I had seen a "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" show on the Food Network about a year ago featuring Prune. The thing to order was a bacon sandwich. I remember it having orange marmalade on it. I do not remember the star chef who recommended it, but I committed the name of the place to memory and put it on my list of restaurants for my next visit to the city. A friend, who knew I was going to be there for a month, suggested I read "Blood, Bones and Butter" as a fun way to prepare for the trip. I was delighted to learn it was written by Gabrielle Hamilton, the chef/owner of Prune. It is not a book of recipes, it is her memoir and it is fantastic!
