December 3 – Moment.
Pick one moment during which you felt most alive this year. Describe it in vivid detail (texture, smells, voices, noises, colors).
(Author: Ali Edwards)
Earlier this year, my husband and I took a trip to Maui with our two closest friends. One afternoon, we drove the road to Hana and camped that night at the Seven Pools. Hearing the ocean crashing on the lava rocks all night and the wind in the sea grasses is a beautiful way to sleep. Waking the next morning, we crawled over boulders to reach the top of the Seven Pools. On any given day, there are hundreds of tourists in this gorgeous and dangerous spot, but having spent the night, we were able to swim in the pools by ourselves. The sky was clear, the sun was bright overhead and the temperature of the water was that perfect briskly invigorating cool when we jumped in. It is an extraordinary feeling to find yourself in one of nature's most glorious locations with people you love.
After our swim, we hiked two miles through a bamboo forest and past numerous waterfalls, to a majestic 10-story high waterfall, and again were able to experience this amazing gift of nature, by ourselves. It was truly a moment, or a morning, of feeling incredibly alive and blessed.
The bamboo forest is incredibly dense and a little menacing with the music of a million wind chimes. |
