I grew up playing with Barbie. She had great clothes and great houses. I had what was called the Family House. I don't remember it being called that, but apparently it was. It looks more like a mod condo to me, but I loved it. This may explain my love for modern decorating. These are pictures I found of one up for sale on ebay In doing some research on Blythe, I have discovered a world of people who collect miniatures and set up homes for their dolls. I am obsessed! I can't stop looking at the pictures on Flickr of Blythe houses. There is a company called Rement that creates all of these collectable miniatures that are the perfect size for her. We have decided to start with the new library space we are decorating. Danny and I are going to build a box that will be an exact replica of the space and then when I have worked out the decorating scheme, Zelda/Chelsea, and all of her books will move in.
I am inspired by the dollhouses created by Mark Turpin. These are amazing creations for adult collectors. I think they are on the 1:12 scale.
I have also found some vintage and new dollhouses on my new favorite blog-Mini Modern-that I wish I had been given as a child or would like to give myself, as an adult.
