Salvador Dali
Galatea of the Spheres, 1952 |
This is a portrait of Salvador Dali's wife Gala. Theirs was quite the steamy love affair. Dali seduced Gala
away from fellow Surrealist artist Paul Eluard. They were married in Paris in 1934, and Dali considered Gala his world and his savior. He even signed some of his work with her name. He bought her a castle in the small town of Pubol, Spain, The Gala Dali Castle, with its one function being a place suitable for her rest and refuge.
Wow! Where has all the romance gone.

Love these! About a year ago my husband and I had an opportunity to visit a Dali exhibit in Atlanta that focused on some of his later work and Gala was his muse for many of those pieces. Their love was very inspiring.
