Clean Out the Closets!

I LOOOOOVE this closet!!!  Wouldn't it be fun to write your blog from inside this closet?  This is really as close to my dream closet as I've ever seen!  The touches of gold are very glam!

But, really I just need more space.  I have a very tiny closet, with a lot of clothes in it.  I owned a clothing store for several years and my closet just cannot accommodate the abundance!  I am blessed, and obsessed and sometimes almost possessed, when it comes to clothes, shoes and jewelry!  I've cleaned it out! I've donated, I've sold, I've thrown away and I've given to my friends!  What's left is only what I love, and that fits and that I have worn in the last year!  (Except for the formal stuff which is still valid as it doesn't look dated as quickly.)  I've actually done all the right things, BUT!  It still doesn't all fit in the itty bitty space I have!  I'm dreaming of a large, beautiful and well-organized closet where I could see everything!  Now that my son has gone to college, I have an extra bedroom.  He's a sophomore in college, now, so I have given him a full year, including a summer to reclaim his space--or at least a space in the house, as his sister claimed his room (the only other one with a bathroom) as soon as he left!  He's got his own apartment in New Orleans now, so I think the coast is clear!  If money were no object (it is) and if I could design and decorate the spare bedroom as a closet (not sure my husband will go for that), what would I even want?

I like the doors on this one.  The lighting is nice and the ottoman in the middle is a must! If my house came with this closet, I would certainly be happy!  But it's not quite my style.

This one is gorgeous!  Very Christina!  I love the chandelier!  I really like the leopard carpet, too!  And there's another pretty ottoman in the middle.  I don't think the pink and red would work for me, and unfortunately I don't have that many shoes, but it's nice that all the shoes are visible.

This one is certainly amazing!  I love it!  I like the white.  It seems like it would be really easy to see your clothes.  There is good light and room for an ottoman!

Wow!  Talk about Glamour Shoes!  Nice!  I wonder where her clothes are?  I think I actually saw pictures of the rest of her closet somewhere and it has moving racks like at the dry cleaner!  Love the chandelier, but its a little frilly for me, personally. Looove that you can see all the shoes!  Love the white walls and the floor, but it does seem a bit over the top for a regular girl like me.

This one is the most reasonable one in the bunch!  But look at the special touches. The star wallpaper on the ceiling looks a little like the pattern on Mariah's floor! And they still managed to fit in a chandelier!  I'm really liking the white cabinetry!

This one seems to be very well organized for a small space with a lot of clothes.  I would bet she wishes for more room, too.  The animal print rug is a nice touch!

I might not have enough Manolo's or Chanel to warrant their own closets, (I have one pair of Manolo Blahniks I got on sale and some Chanel nail polish), but I do like the doors on the closets.  This might be especially nice for my evening gowns and sparkly things.  The white cabinetry is working for me again, as is the island and the black and white door.

This is beautiful and impeccably organized!  Go to the website for many more pictures of this closet and the rest of his gorgeous apartment!  I love this, but I would be completely incapable of keeping my sweaters folded that neatly, and my shirts don't all look the same.  I owned a clothing store for several years and I know how to make my sweaters look like that (there's a board to use) but I don't want to work that hard for myself!  I do love the white again, the organization and the big mirrored door.  Drawers or doors could replace the open shelves and hide my messy things!

So, if I ever get permission from my husband, or find the extra cash, I know what components my dream closet needs.  I now know that I need simple white cabinetry, good lighting, an ottoman in the middle, a chandelier and some animal print.  I would like a rug because it just feels good under bare-feet!  What do you need in your dream closet?  And which one of these is your favorite?
